The million dollar question. GApps is the abbreviation that forums and developers have given to Google Applications, translated into Spanish as “Google Apps”. Indeed, GApps are installation packages that have different Google applications and drivers, which we must install on our device to, for example, have Google Play or Google’s synchronization services.

In general, they usually come in a .zip format that we can flash – that is, install in the system – through the modified recovery of our phone. What does this mean? That to install a package of Google applications via recovery we need to have our device rooted, although I imagine that if you are reading this you already knew it.

Surely you see that people in the forums say they prefer to install a package or another and write as things like “I always install the nano” or “The best is the peak.” That’s because Google applications come in packages, and depending on the package come one or other applications. If you want to know which one interests you the most, here we leave you all the packages that exist and what each one includes.

Why do you need Nougat Gapps?

Since AOSP based ROMs don’t come with Google services pre-installed, you need to manually install them by flashing a compatible Gapps package from TWRP or any other custom recovery. Android Nougat Gapps will come in handy if you’re installing an Android 7.0 based AOSP ROM like CM14. We’ll release the first set of Android Nougat Gapps once factory images of Nougat update are available for supported Nexus devices. Android Nougat Gapps will be available in various sizes, from a small/minimal package of 80-90MB to full-blown 400MB size zips.

Installing Android 7.0 Nougat Gapps is similar to flashing any .zip file from a custom recovery. If you’re on TWRP, simply go to install menu and select the Nougat Gapps package you downloaded on the device. Check out the guide below for detailed instructions to flash Android 7.0 Gapps.
